HUMAN-AI COLLABORATION FRAMEWORK FOR COMPLEX DECISION MAKING

Abstract

The increasing complexity of decision-making in critical domains such as healthcare, finance, and emergency response has highlighted the need for a collaborative approach that integrates human intuition and expertise with artificial intelligence (AI)'s analytical power. This paper presents a comprehensive framework for human-AI collaboration in complex decision-making scenarios. The framework is designed to leverage the complementary strengths of humans and AI by fostering seamless interaction, mutual understanding, and adaptive workflows. Our approach addresses key challenges, including trust building, transparency, bias mitigation, and real-time adaptability, by emphasizing principles such as interpretability, explain ability, and user-centered design. The framework integrates advanced AI capabilities such as machine learning, natural language processing, and predictive analytics with decision support systems that prioritize human oversight and contextual knowledge. A multi-phase methodology is outlined, which includes: (1) problem definition and contextual analysis, (2) AI model development and alignment with human objectives, (3) iterative human-AI interaction design, and (4) performance evaluation through simulated and real-world scenarios. Key metrics such as accuracy, efficiency, and user satisfaction are utilized to assess the framework's effectiveness. Case studies from diverse sectors illustrate the framework's adaptability and impact in supporting high-stakes decision-making processes. By fostering collaborative synergy, this human-AI collaboration framework aims to enhance decision-making quality, reduce cognitive load, and enable more informed and ethical outcomes in complex and uncertain environments. The paper concludes with insights into future research directions, emphasizing the importance of co-evolution in human and AI capabilities to address emerging global challenges.
